Child feeding and Nutrition
philosophy & frameworks
While Intuitive Eating is not limited to a specific age, its full framework is best suited to individuals who have developed the independence and cognitive maturity to understand how hunger, emotions, and behaviour intersect.
In early childhood, where parents naturally shape the food environment, I apply evidence-based nutrition guidance alongside age-appropriate frameworks that align with the principles of Intuitive Eating, such as Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility. These approaches prioritise a child’s autonomy and honour their internal hunger and fullness cues, while providing the structure young children need to feel secure.
These frameworks foster trust, competence, and body awareness from the very beginning and reject control, rigid rules, or moral language around food.
